Over the past years I’ve been working with Bert Hornikx (drums/electronics) and visual artist Martijn Pillards (Monho) on a new HRNS record called TAWAZUN – Arabic for “balance” or “equilibrium”, not as a fixed state but as a movement between chaos and calm.
The album consists of five improvised pieces for piano/Rhodes, drums and electronics, each circling a different facet of that movement: solitude (Ekaki), twilight (Sandhya), connection (Mitakuye Oyasin), distraction (Viksepa) and wandering (Homo Viator). The music lives somewhere between ambient and slow, contemplative improvisation – made for late nights and in-between moments rather than big climaxes.
TAWAZUN is now available both digitally and on a limited 10″ vinyl edition. Thanks to everyone who supported the campaign, we were able to bring the record into the physical world.
If this world resonates with you and you’d like to support, you can order the vinyl via Bandcamp.
