SELAH SUE

I started with Selah on stage as the keyboard player in her first live band, and gradually moved deeper into the creative and production process, with the album Persona (2022) as a milestone—featuring one of my all-time heroes Marcus Miller, plus Mick Jenkins, Damso, MonoNeon, Kadhja Bonet, and more. From the very start in 2011, there was magic: during our second rehearsal with PJ Seaux (bass) and Louis Favre (drums) we created “This World,” the track that helped carry her beyond Belgium. From there it’s been a rollercoaster of tours across the globe and in many shapes—from an intimate trio with keys and cello to a full band with some of Belgium’s finest players. Along the way we’ve had special opportunities to perform with large orchestras, share stages with artists like Tricky, Tony Allen, José James, Erik Truffaz, and Damso, and sit down to write and work with renowned producers. Through it all, as Selah’s musical—and life—partner, I keep pursuing an organic blend of jazz, soul, and electronics in service of the song.
